Pineapple Sails

Horsepower

[caption id="attachment_571" align="alignleft" width="261" caption="Ad for November 1990"][/caption]

Richard Ceraldi doesn't buy a lot of sails for "Crazy Horse," his Moore 24. But when this Texas sailor wanted to win last month's NOOD Regatta in Galveston Bay, he called his California sailmaker to order a new mylar genoa. The one we built in 1984 was finally wearing out!

"Crazy Horse" finished 2,1,1,1, in class, trotting out her one new genoa and her 1984 vintage Pineapple main and spinnaker to sail past whole suits of brand new, brand "X" sails.

Richard's Moore is a real race horse; his new sail is a real work horse.

And Pineapple Sails has a great track record - for building sails that last, and come first. Call us today and let's talk about your sailing needs.

All Heart

[caption id="attachment_678" align="alignleft" width="293" caption="Ad for July 1990"][/caption]

"Heart of Gold," Jim and Sue Corenman's new Schumacher designed "rocket ship," arrived in May and has already given a stellar performance, placing first in division in OYRA's Lightship Race and first to the weather mark, first to finish and first in division in Stockton Sailing Club's 140-mile South Tower Race.

The Corenmans plan to race the boat with a full crew, and to cruise and race the boat double-handed. They ordered their racing sails from Pineapple Sails to regularly leave the competition behind and their cruising sails, also from Pineapple, to confidently leave us all behind.

In this age of specialization, Pineapple Sails has just one specialty: quality sails, designed and built to do the job. Give us a call or stop by the loft to talk about your sailing needs.

Honey's Money

[caption id="attachment_591" align="alignleft" width="280" caption="Ad for June 1990"][/caption]

Bob Evans bought his first Pineapple Sails in May of 1980 for his Columbia 26 Mk II, "Honey's Money." Bob was both season and national champion when the Columbia class was strong and competitive.

Today, ten years later, "Honey's Money" in an Olson 25, again "Powered by Pineapples" and again winning races. Bob won his one design class in the Berkeley-Metropolitan Midwinter series.

During these same years that Bob was spending some of his honey's money equiping and racing sailboats, Pineapple Sails made some significant changes. New materials, more sophisticated equipment, and most importantly, years of sailing and sailmaking experience, have generated new concepts in design and construction.

But our commitment to quality, perfromance and service have remained unchanged. There's only one more thing to say: Thanks, Carol!

This Goose Cooked (all the way to the finish)

[caption id="attachment_587" align="alignleft" width="270" caption="photo: Chuck Sanders Ad for July 1989"][/caption]

Jim and Sue Corenman enjoy racing their Nordic 40, "Wild Goose." So this spring they had the boat measured for an IMS (International Measurement System) rating and entered the Vallejo Race.

"Wild Goose" won the race overall under IMS, both to Vallejo and back.

The Nordic is a racer/cruiser. Her full complement of Pineapple Sails and state-of-the-art electronics are matched by her full complement of blender, TV, CD player and vacuum cleaner.

"Goose's" sails were built to be fast and stay fast. The Kevlar main was built in 1987 and is still winning races; the newest spinnaker was built before last year's Pacific Cup. All the sails on the boat have remained competitive, defeating much newer sails in a highly competitive fleet.

If you're ready to race and cruise to the front of your fleet, give us a call or stop by (to gander?). We can help put you there and keep you there: with sails that start fast and stay that way.

Wildfire Turns Up The Heat

[caption id="attachment_612" align="alignleft" width="282" caption="Ad for December 1986"][/caption]

"Wildfire," John Clauser's Ranger 37, smoked the competition in the IOR division of the 1986 Bay series.

John modified the boat, adding a radical bulb keel (sound familiar?) and a deeper rudder. And he added an inventory of specially designed Pineapple sails. John's innovative approach required a sailmaker who was innovative as well, building sails that incorporated the latest in materials and technique with design concepts that only years of sailing experience can bring.

John chose the best sailmaker for the job. And the good news spread like "Wildfire."

Watch Out for Sniper Fire!

John Kelly won this year's Richmond Midwinters in the Snipe class. In tight competition and varying conditions, John's sails made the difference.

If your aim this season is to terrorize the rest of the fleet, hunt no further.

Pineapple Sails has all the ammunition you need!

Svendle in the Land of Phrf: A True Story!

[caption id="attachment_652" align="alignleft" width="237" caption="photo: Myles Ringle Ad for April and June 1986"][/caption]

Once upon a time in the land of GGYC there lived a ferocious monster named Svendle. Svendle was a svashbuckler who would sveep down and svallow the competition! This winter in the famous racing series in the land of GGYC, Svendle was first in the class of PHRF. (According to the spectators, Svendle ate everybody in sight.)

Sven Svendsen (distinguished proprietor of Svendsen's Marine in the land of Alameda) is the master of Svendle and svears by the sails that are the power of Svendle: Pineapple Sails.

The Power of the Pineapple can be yours! And victory in the land of YRA.

Loose-ly Speaking

[caption id="attachment_666" align="alignleft" width="226" caption="Ad for March 1985"][/caption]

Jerry Fisher understands light air sailing (and high performance sailing in general!), gingerly steering his custom 24-footer, "Loose," to victory in the Metro Midwinters, turning a 'loose rein' into a "Loose" reign!

Jerry has spent the last eight years installing sail hardware and doing the fine hand finishing at Pineapple Sails. We are proud of his craftsmanship at the loft and his achievements on the water.

Call or come by to talk about how we can help your boat 'break loose' from the rest of the fleet. Jerry and the rest of our staff will work together to design and build you the fastest, most well constructed sails possible!

"Bloom County"

[caption id="attachment_670" align="alignleft" width="249" caption="photo: Peter Carrick Ad for December 1984"][/caption]

Carl and Mark Ondry are serious ocean racers - a father and son team with years of expreience sailing with the MORA fleet.

So it's no surprise that "Bloom County," their new Mancebo designed and built maxi-MORA "meadow."

"Bloom County" won the Half Moon Bay Race, flying downhill with a broadshouldered, well-behaved triradial spinnaker and racing back up again with a perfectly shaped mylar jib, drawing from a carefully planned inventory of Pineapple Sails.

If your sail locker is another "closet of anxieties," we can help.

It's time you talked with a sailmaker who can match the special qualities of your boat with the latest in sailmaking technology. Give us a call and take advantage of our winter discount.

Strong to the Finish...

[caption id="attachment_567" align="alignleft" width="229" caption="photo: Myles Ringle Ad for May and June 1984"][/caption]

Jerry Huffaker won this year's Wheeler Cup in "Popeye," his Moore 24.

We'll tell you it was Jerry's Pineapple sails that made the difference.

He'll tell you it's all that spinach he feeds his crew.

Anyone will tell you pineapples are better than canned spinach! And Pineapple sails are ahead of the competition...time and time again!
